Arab Fund for Arts and Culture Grants

The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture – AFAC – is an independent regional initiative that offers financial and professional support to emerging and established artists from the Arab region and to cultural institutions engaged in supporting the contemporary Arab art and culture scene.

Founded in 2007, AFAC opens annual calls for Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Film, Music, Creative and Critical Writings, Research, Documentary Photography, and Training and Regional Events and supports about 150 to 200 individuals and organizations each year. Applications are currently open for grant opportunities across Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Documentary Film and Critical Creative Writings.

AFAC encourages sustainability in the arts and culture sector through public and private investments, and through entrepreneurial business practices. To date, AFAC had supported more than more than 1,900 artistic and cultural projects.

Award Size

The Documentary Film program provides annual grants up to USD 10,000 for development grants, up to USD 50,000 for production grants for feature-length films and USD 20,000 for short and medium-length documentaries, and up to USD 25,000 for post-production grants for feature-length films and USD 10,000 for short and medium-length documentaries. The Creative and Critical Writings grant program provides annual grants of up to USD 20,000 for individuals and teams, and up to USD 35,000 for collectives and institutions.
