World Press Institute Fellowship

Each year, WPI selects top international journalists for an immersive nine-week program that explores the U.S. media, culture, politics, and issues of the day.

In a guided tour across the country – including Minneapolis, D.C., Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and more – fellows will interview subject matter experts in media outlets, think tanks and advocacy organizations.

Fellows meet with:

✅ Federal judges explaining judicial independence under political pressure
✅ State lawmakers discussing how local governance shapes national trends
✅ Think tank leaders from across the ideological spectrum outlining their influence on policy
✅ Newsroom investigative teams sharing how they navigate legal threats and resource constraints
✅ Tech diplomacy experts discussing regulation and innovation
✅ Civil rights organizers explaining ground-level organizing in polarized communities

Applicants must be currently employed as a non-U.S. journalist working outside of the United States.
