The Jefferson Fellowships is a three-week reporting and study tour with the goal of leveraging news media to enhance public understanding of cultures, issues, and trends in the Indo-Pacific region. This program is for full time journalists only.
The 2026 Jefferson Fellowships will explore the ways that AI is shaping the future in the Indo-Pacific economically and socially. In visits to Honolulu, Japan, and Korea, Fellows will interview experts, researchers, and leaders in government, NGO, and business, and see first-hand the effects of AI in visits to health care facilities, labs, schools, AI-driven manufacturing facilities, chip makers, and AI farms. Journalists will also have opportunities to network and learn from each other’s personal expertise and perspectives.
Ideal candidates:
- Are full-time journalists working in the Indo-Pacific region (which includes the United States).
- Possess professional fluency in English.
